Over picking handling in STO

Greetings,

This is my first post, please be nice with me :-) I just want to make
that group active.

I'd like to discuss about an important topic that is not yet supported
by AFS (at least till 6.4), over picking in STO processing. In the
fashion/sportswear industry, in case a real production process is
involved it's is pretty obvious that when you cut some raw materials,
sometimes you could pick more than what was assigned by the ARUN.
Right now I had to find some workaround through MM ARUN to handle that
scenario, however that is not really "elegant". The thing is, some
customers found a way to bypass that restriction by changing some
settings in the IMG and perform picking through standard picking
processing (not done in the AFS tab), thus creating, from time to
time, data inconsistencies. This was initially done by consultants
that did not know AFS restrictions.

Hello Mehdi,

Along with STO deliveries, there has been request from AFS customers(not many though) in the past for SD outbound deliveries .
As you are already aware the over picking is any ways not allowed for AFS outbound deliveries .
However in the case of MTO/PTO outbound deliveries we allow over deliveries, however even here over picking is not possible .

This as you said is feasible option in standard ERP. However if this feature has to be introduced for AFS we have take care of updating the requirements(J_3ABDSI),
Requirement-stock mapping(J_3ABDBS) , stock tables ..and also other related tables like statuses and document flow .
And most importantly changing the logic of /AFS/SDRQ report which is our sole help in detecting inconsistencies in customer system. This has been proven report for years .

Agree with you should be useful for customers .Should be handful.
May if we have some good number of request of customers and our solution management and other important people have to take the call .

And for your development abilities I guess you can develop it yourself for the customers :)

Best Regards,
Ravish.

Hi,

I appreciate the real issues in AFS put forward by Mehdi LAHMER.

To add to what he has explained,In some of the implementations I have done with AFS 6.0 where the customer was
doing more than 80% of the production through subcontracting and 20% was inhouse production.MM ARUN was bit of an issue.

As we know that AFS is basically designed in such a way thay all AFS materials shipped to
customer OR shipped to other plant of your own has to go through SD/MM ARUN.

So we too faced the issue of ARUN in context of STO, and in one of our implementations when we tried to change
customization settings for MM ARUN we had to face multiple deliveries being created for an STO.

I presume with all these developments SAP could have done some changes to its latest versions to handle these issues in ARUN.
